Lotus Development, Lotus Smart Suite: Project. Call Centre Case Study.
This project involved a highly competitive area with Microsoft and Lotus development in the office automation product range. The war was at its height, and Microsoft was winning, Lotus UK took the decision to outsource a program to upgrade their client base to the current version on the Smart Suite Product and having found a Direct Marketing company to run the campaign, all we very disappointed when the program failed.
I was called in on the second week of the six week campaign that had been expected to bring in a large sum of revenue. Within hours of the first day I had assessed the situation and interviewed key personal and recommended the removal of the current manager. By the finishes the second days the team were producing sales, yet the process still lacked a verification process that was in place by the end of day three. Over the next four weeks I managed the team and brought in a project that exceeded all expectations.
This was one of the clearest examples of how near to success a failure can be, the people on this project were able to do the job, the equipment was able to handle the work, the place was right. The only issue was a manager that was using the wrong methods, who had no understanding of how to confirm a sale. And for some strange reason was afraid to tell anyone.
